Is Crown Financial Ministries Small Group Study a Catholic Bible Study?
If one is using the word catholic in the universal sense as is done in the Creed, the answer is yes. In its ecumenical intention, The Crown Bible Study is not written specifically for Catholics but rather for all Christians. In this sense, the Crown Bible Study is not a specifically Catholic study, but the Catholic Supplement is intended to help Catholics see how the Crown Bible Study is compatible with the teaching of the Catholic Church and to give further Catholic reflection on the topics found in the Crown study. The Catholic Supplement has been granted an Imprimatur by the Bishop of Orlando. The Catholic Supplement can be found by clicking on the appropriate tool bar on the left side of the page.

How can I become a Small Group Leader? (Back to Top)
There are three ways to become certified to lead this study:

1. Attend a "Small Group Leader Training". This is a one-day training seminar that will prepare you and your co-leader to lead the study.

Go to the "Events Calendar" tab above for scheduled training dates. You can register online at www.crown.org or by calling 1 (800) 722-1976.

Make sure you register at least three to four weeks prior to your training date as you will have eight to ten hours of required homework to complete before the training and it will take seven to ten days for your study materials to arrive once you are registered.

The cost of the "Small Group Leader Training" is $88 per person or married couple.

2. You can also become a trained leader by graduating from the study as a student and attending a two-hour "Leader Orientation". Please contact your local field staff to find the next two-hour training in your area.

3. We also have a "Small Group Leader Training" self-study available online at crown.org. This self-study is intended for people who live in areas where we do not offer live training and is not recommended if live trainings are available in your area.

The cost for the self-study is $88.

Please contact your Crown staff contact if you have any further quesions about becoming a Crown small group leader. You can find your Crown staff contact under the "Meet the Team" tab above.

How can I become a Money Map Coach? (Back to Top)
Our "Money Map Coach Training" is a 25-hour self-study course that will prepare you to work one-on-one with married couples and singles to get their financial house in order.

Over several sessions together, you will guide people through a Bible study teaching biblical financial principles, analyzing their income, spending, debt, and giving history. You will also help them develop a written budget, a debt elimination plan and guide them through important financial changes they may need to consider in their life.

This important ministry helps to reduce stress in people’s lives, builds stronger marriages, increases giving to God’s kingdom and brings people into a closer relationship with the Lord. If serving God in this way sounds interesting and fulfilling to you, then you are ready to become a trained Money Map Coach.

Here is how you may complete your training:

1. You can complete the study on your own in about 25 hours and receive your certificate of completion when you send your completion statement to the Crown Home Office signed by your pastor.

2. To enhance your training, we offer a one-day seminar that brings you together with other new budget coaches to learn from our experienced counselors. The seminar includes role plays of counseling sessions, and discussion of coaching issues you may encounter.

The seminar cost is $30 per person, and you can register by calling 1-800-722-1976 or online at www.crown.org. Please go to the "Events Calendar" tab above to see the schedule for upcoming seminars.

What is the Crown Comprehensive Church Program? (Back to Top)
Crown has designed a comprehensive program to equip people of all ages to handle money God’s way.

FOR ADULTS
Crown offers four adult learning experiences to accommodate individual preferences and the different teaching methods used in churches.

1. Journey to Financial Freedom Seminar. The seminar is the most efficient way to quickly expose many people to God’s financial principles. The seminar is six-seven hours long, and each participant receives a manual. Crown will supply a seminar instructor.

2. Small Group Study. This study is the foundation to the entire program, because usually the greatest life change takes place in small groups. Groups are limited to 12 people, including a leader and coleader, and meet for two hours once a week for 10 weeks. Topics include earning, giving, saving, spending, investing, getting out of debt, and training children to handle money. Training of the leaders is required.

3. Video Series. The Discovering God’s Way of Handling Money series is comprised of eight, 20-minute videos, each taught by a gifted communicator. There is a group discussion after each video presentation. Leaders facilitate the group discussion, and no leader training is required.

4. Budget Coach Training. Budget coaches are trained to help people use a budget. This personal, one-on-one attention is necessary for many people to begin budgeting.
After completion of the self-study, attending an optional six-hour workshop is strongly recommended.

FOR CHILDREN, TEENS, AND COLLEGE STUDENTS

Crown offers outstanding studies for children from ages 5 to college students. The studies for children may be taught in a variety of settings: one-on-one, in a small group, in a Sunday school class, or in a Christian school. No leader training is required for the children’s and teen’s studies.

The College Study addresses the issues college students need to know about at this formative time of life. This may be taught in a small group or classroom setting. Training is
required to lead the College Study.

How do I start a Crown program in my church? (Back to Top)
1. Introduce Crown to Church Leadership.
Meet with the pastor and appropriate church
leadership to describe the program, answer any
questions, and seek permission to begin Crown.
Encourage the leaders to visit Crown’s Web site
at www.crown.org. Invite a Crown staff person to your meeting.

2. Recruit the Church Coordinator.
Once you have received permission to begin
Crown, ask the church leadership to identify and
help recruit the person they choose to serve as
the church coordinator.

3. Decide on the Plan
Next meet with the church leadership to determine
how to start Crown in the church. For
example, a church with a strong Sunday school
emphasis may choose to start with the video
series. The ultimate goal should be to train every
person in the church to handle money God’s way.

4. Implement the Plan
Once you decide on a plan, the next step is to
start the program. If you have any questions,
please contact the Crown local staff in your
area, call Crown at 1-800-722-1976, or visit
www.crown.org.
